This is the plan we give families who ask us where to start. It assumes you arrive on a Friday afternoon and leave on Sunday, with children who like strawberries and do not like long car rides. Drive times are from Teratak Pakis with a clear road; in holidays, double them for anything towards Kea Farm.12
We put the outdoor things early, before the roads fill up, and keep an indoor option for each afternoon in case of rain. BOH Sungei Palas is closed on Mondays except in school and public holidays, which is why it sits on Saturday here.23
Day 1 (Friday): arrive and settle in1456

Leave the Klang Valley by about 10 am. It is about 206 km and 2 h 40 min to Tanah Rata via Tapah with no traffic; stop before the climb for lunch and a toilet break.

Check in. Let the children run round the garden and put on a warmer layer.

Drive to Parit Falls eco-park, 2.8 km from us by road, for a paddle in the cool stream. No entry fee is listed for it.

Golden Hills night market, 1.4 km away. It runs on Fridays and Saturdays, listed as 3.30 pm to 11.30 pm. Dinner from the stalls, and wrap up warm.

Leave for BOH Sungei Palas, 8.7 km and about 15 minutes. It opens at 8.30 am, and arriving early beats the queue on the single-lane road.

Tea tasting and factory tour, RM50 a person, about an hour, minimum two; book with BOH beforehand. Then tea and cake on the balcony over the tea rows.

Mossy Forest by tour. Since April 2026 private cars cannot go up, so book a tour operator registered with the forest office. Entry is RM10 for Malaysian adults and RM5 for children 3 to 12 (RM30 and RM15 for non-citizens). Keep hands free for the wet boardwalk.

Time Tunnel museum in Brinchang, 2.8 km away: more than 4,000 collectables in eight galleries, with a barber shop, a kopitiam and a children's section. Good if it has started to rain.

If it rains
- Swap the Mossy Forest for the Time Tunnel and a long tea at BOH. The forest office closes the park during some rainy spells anyway.
- Parit Falls and the strawberry farms are fine in a light shower with waterproofs, but skip the stream if the water looks high or brown.
- The night market is outdoors: go early, before the evening chill, and take an umbrella.1112
If you have an extra day
Add Sam Poh Temple on the hill above Brinchang (listed as 8 am to 5 pm, free entry, in July 2025) and Cameron Lavender Garden north of Kea Farm, 10.8 km from us. Go on a weekday if you can: the Kea Farm road is at its worst on weekends and in school holidays.612
